More About Us

Caroline Kelly loves all kinds of animals and was surrounded by them from an early in her family home. The list of pets included dogs, cats, guinea pigs, tropical fish, cockatiels, budgies and a hamster.

After successfully graduating in business studies, Caroline began looking for a way to combine her commercial skills with her lifelong love of pets. Keeping pets of her own, Caroline realised that taking holidays was difficult without continually calling on favours from neighbours! It was the realisation that many other pet lovers must have a similar problem that gave Caroline the idea of starting the Pet Carers business.

The service was launched in 2004 with the aim to allow pet owners to leave their pets with total peace of mind, knowing they were being cared for in a loving home environment. The business developed quickly and to cope with demand, Caroline recruited dog boarders throughout the Cheltenham area to look after customer’s dogs in their homes. The dog walking and pet visiting service was also flourishing to the point that Caroline realised further help was needed.

This help came in the form of Sue Pitcher who became Caroline’s business partner and later a director of Pet Carers (Franchise) Ltd. Sue had recently moved to Cheltenham from South Wales and also had a lifelong love of pets. Another advantage was that Sue, also a graduate, was a qualified dog trainer and - perhaps even more importantly for the next stage of development - she had extensive experience of franchising.

The Pet Carers business really started to expand with two experienced animal lovers at the helm. By franchising, Caroline and Sue know they can attract like-minded people with the required degree of energy, determination and commitment that this business requires, as well as an all-important love of animals.

The Pet Carers business continues to grow, with franchises across the country and more opportunities available.
