What is a Host Family?
A Host Family is the title of a caring dog lover that dedicates their time to taking dogs into their home while its owner is away for any length of time, be it a holiday or a business trip.
Pet Carers (Franchise) Ltd has established the services of Host Families to avoid the use of kennel environments. This enables owners and dogs to enjoy their time apart as much as possible without added stress or guilt.
Each Host Family is insured through their local Pet Carers team and are given 24 hour on-call support.
What kind of dogs will I board?
As a Host Family you will always be consulted before bookings are confirmed. All dogs and owners can be met before boarding commences to ensure all parties are satisfied with arrangements. Breeds and sizes vary, but you are able to decline a charge should you feel it is not suitable.
Would I make a suitable Host Family?
It is paramount to Pet Carers (Franchise) Ltd that all Host Families treat dogs with respect and gentle caring hands. We require that you have experience in owning and handling dogs.
References will be required so your local Pet Carer can have written clarification that you are indeed a responsible dog lover. You also need to be home throughout the day and not in full time employment. However, if you work from home or possibly part time you can still qualify as a potential Host Family.
You would need a very safe and enclosed dog friendly home and garden and would be happy to allow a dog and owner to visit before bookings are confirmed.
What if I want to go on holiday?
You would need to inform your local Pet Carers branch of any days/weeks that you would be unavailable. This will help with finding available Host Families for each booking enquiry.
