Pet Carer’s founder Caroline Kelly has two dog loving grandparents, Norman and Barbara. Both retired, they have been living in Bishops Cleeve for over 43 years and have taken on the role of a committed Host Family for Pet Carers for the past 3 years. They simply adore dogs and their whole lives have been devoted to them.
Their first dog was an Alsatian/cross that loved to show off and adored swimming and was a complete joy to everyone, sadly he died quite young. Unable to be without a dog, they brought home a loveable Border Collie named Razor. Next came the affectionately named Wonk Dog (due to a wonky tail), aka. Harvey a
Golden Retriever. Whilst Harvey was growing older they decided to get a puppy pal; Barney another fun loving golden retriever. They got on famously. They currently have Pippa the rescue Golden Retriever. She is bouncy, fun filled and extremely happy and she especially likes to share her home with other dogs.
Norman and Barbara started home boarding when Pet Carers began. Due to the tragic fact that they lost their beloved Border Collie Razor, whilst away on holiday they find it extremely important for families to know that their dog is very well looked after and in a loving family home environment. They have proved to be very popular with various owners and like all of the Pet Carers Host Families; they are never without a dog enjoying its holiday with them.
Their home has the perfect amount of space for an extra buddy for Pippa with a decent size garden waiting to be explored.
They take their charges out for lengthy walks in various places so each dog gets the right amount of exercise if needed, with plenty of mental stimulation and sight seeing.
Norman and Barbara said, “We absolutely love having dogs to stay with us and it fits in well with our life style. Pippa is the perfect host for our doggie friends and we all miss them when they return home. Thankfully, we see many of them again.
We take the dogs for a short morning walk and then a long walk in the afternoon. Our favourite walks are Stroud Common, The Forest of Dean and Rodborough Common to name a few of the many. We are all worn out by the end of the day so we all get a good night sleep!”
